I am posting a quick status update on the formation of the new portal. First, I just want to say that it’s coming along quite well. It’s slow but steady, as is the case with many other portals. Nothing unusual to report there. It has given no concrete signs of what world is beyond, but it’s still early.
The stories have also been hanging around where the portal is forming. Some are watching from far away, while others are scampering around trying to figure out where it will lead. Again, this is quite normal. Stories love new worlds, and it won’t take long before the new world is full of them. After all, what’s a world without stories?
Trick question! There’s no such thing as a world without stories.
Anyway, you may have noted that I used the phrase “no concrete signs” when referring to whether or not the portal was giving any hints yet. I phrased it this way because there have been strange but vague things happening in the vicinity. I previously discussed the feelings of déjà vu that both the stories and I were experiencing, but now something else has begun.
A particularly quiet and observant story told me just the other day about how it had some trouble getting to the portal. According to the story, the walk took longer than usual. It didn’t take hours and hours, but it did take a couple of extra minutes, and the story is almost certain that it passed by the same rock twice. Before I could ask any more questions, we were interrupted by another story that burst into the clearing while yelling something about being lost for days.
Fascinating. I’m getting an idea of what sort of world is opening up here. I’m sure you are, too. Keep checking back to see if your theory is correct. As the portal forms, there will be more clues to find.
Oh, and don’t worry about the stories getting lost. Stories are a hardy bunch. They always manage to find their way, even when it seems they’re lost. And you must also remember that I am the Keeper, which means I can always find a story no matter how lost or hidden it may be.
