The new portal to the country manor has been open for a week now, and the first three stories are happily settled within. There are a few other stories eagerly awaiting their turn to enter the manor. They’ve been chattering away about which rooms they’d like to stay in and what kinds of tea they’d like to drink.
Overall, things are beginning to quiet down, relatively speaking. The excitement of the new portal had attracted lots of stories, and they are here to stay until I find the proper place for them. They’ve quieted down, though, and are already wondering what the next world will be.
“Oh, you can’t be serious,” I told them when they asked me about it. “You’ve just gotten a brand new world to explore, in addition to three older worlds. You can’t possibly be thinking of a new one right now.”
One of them panicked and asked if there would ever be another world. This set the others to panicking because stories don’t like the thought of being without new worlds and new readers.
“Yes, there will be other worlds. This was most definitely not the last,” I reassured them. “I’m just going to focus on helping more of you to the worlds already here before I work on another portal.”
This calmed them down, and they returned to their conversation of what kind of tea they wanted and, as I walked away, what the next world might be. Sigh.
