Hello, everyone. I have been very busy corralling the stories during this new year. You wouldn’t believe the amount of partying some stories can do! One of the parties resulted in a couple of stories ending up on my roof, where they decided to have a who-can-be-the-loudest competition with the story in my attic. Trust me when I say that nobody wins those sorts of contests. But I am back with some fun ways for you to find new stories.
Don’t worry, this won’t involve climbing on my roof.
- Go to your local library, choose a section (i.e. fiction), go to the very beginning of the section (i.e. the As), and grab the very first book on the very first shelf. Take a look at it, and if it seems even remotely interesting, take it home. Be sure to check it out first. If it doesn’t seem remotely interesting, give it a try anyway. You might find something new. When you’re finished with the book, return it, go back to that shelf, and choose the second book. Rinse and repeat until you reach the last book on the last shelf, then select another section and do the same thing all over again. Don’t worry about missing books that are checked out. Just keep going. How far will you get? What wonderful books will you find that you wouldn’t have found any other way?
- Create your own reading challenge. Rather than following someone else’s reading challenge, just create your own! If you don’t know how to get started, try choosing a theme for your challenge. For example, you could have a llama-themed reading challenge, or a Mars-themed reading challenge, or even a cloud-themed reading challenge. You could also challenge yourself to pick a random word out of the dictionary, and then see if you can find a book with that word in the title. This can be…interesting depending on the word you select, but this has the bonus of helping you build your vocabulary. The challenge possibilities are endless! - Go to the Keep. Just click the button below and follow the prompts. I highly recommend this option. It’s pretty cool. Trust me, I would know. Five worlds, no waiting. Plus, you might have an adventure along the way. And by “might,” I mean you will definitely have an adventure along the way. Don’t worry, there is only one world, at the moment, where there is something that “might” chase you. What’s not to love about this option?
And there you have it! If you choose any of these methods, you will find something new in no time! They are all equally good, though number three is pretty neat. Not that I’m biased or anything. Anyway, I’d better go. There is a Sasquatch in the garden again.
