Last week, I explained several things you can do to attract stories into your home. This week, I’ll explain how to tell if they have indeed visited. If you’re confused right now, go read last week’s post, try the things I recommend, then come back here to see if you were successful. These are some of the signs that your home has been visited by stories:
- You have a lot more books than you remember. When browsing your bookshelf, you see books that you don’t remember buying. Well, if that’s not a sign of visiting stories, I don’t know what is.
- You’re reading more. You’re not letting those books you don’t remember buying go to waste, are you? No! You’re reading them. You’re also making more trips to your library, and you’re keeping an eye out for interesting new books. Bookstores are now catching your fancy. Stories will always influence you to seek out more stories.
- You’re trying new genres. You’re reading genres that you’ve never read before. You’re watching movies that you wouldn’t have given a second glance at a year ago. You actually listened to an audiobook and enjoyed it. The presence of stories broadens your horizons.
- You’re recommending stories to other people. Have you ever read or watched or listened to a good story and immediately felt the need to tell someone about it? Stories love it when you share them. After all, what’s the point of a story if no one tells it?
- You’re creating more. You’re writing, you’re drawing, you’re playing music, or whatever creative pastime you enjoy, and you’re doing it more often. You’re improving. As I said before, stories love the creative process. It attracts them, and it also energizes them, which in turn energizes any creators in their vicinity. Stories beget more stories.
Have you noticed any stories visiting? If you haven’t noticed these signs, don’t despair. Just make sure you’re following the guidelines for attracting them, and before you know it, they will be all over your home, maybe even in your attic. I know my attic story is still there, as noisy as ever. Take a trip to the Keep to see what stories are visiting the worlds linked there.
